Koji Nagata (1936-2017)
Was born in Izumo, Shimane prefecture as a second son of six siblings. He actively had been working on his hobby, oil paintings, as an amateur artist. Especcially he was willing to paint some landscape of his hometown and foreign countries he had ever visited. He also exhibited many works in local art exhibitions and won some prizes.
Despite being busy with his own business, he strangely had never shown his painting activities in front of people - that is kind of a famous story handed down among his family for a long time.
In his later years, he switched his brush for oil painting to watercolors and colored pencils, continued to paint landscapes with various touches.

“The roof would look better with drawing the shadow.”
This is the first and last thing that my grandfather told me about painting when I was a little. Because he was kind of shy taking about his art and philosophy, I clearly remember this private lesson in my memory, and I will.
When I planned to create his gallery this time, I wanted to design logo inspirited from my experience above. Generally roof takes a role to protect people from raining or windy, and warmly embracing family at home. I found something similar between this role and him who cared his family very much. I hope many people will able to see and know his art works through this Gallery.
With respects to my grandfather who continued holding his paintbrush with his strong will and tolerant mind.
